Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about implementation, integration, and using Signal Orchard.
How long does implementation typically take?
Implementation timelines vary based on scope and complexity. A typical control tower or dispatch system takes 3-6 months from discovery through go-live, including data integration, configuration, training, and parallel testing. We follow a phased approach with clear milestones and regular checkpoints.
Can Signal Orchard integrate with our existing ERP or WMS?
Yes. We specialize in integrating with existing enterprise systems including SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Blue Yonder, Manhattan Associates, and others. We assess your current architecture during discovery, design the integration approach, and handle data pipeline architecture and API configuration.
Who owns and controls our data?
You own your data completely. We design systems and data pipelines that your organization controls. We can host data in your cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP) or on your infrastructure. Data access, retention, and archival policies are defined by you.
How much historical data do we need to get started?
For a control tower or dispatch system, you need 2-4 weeks of clean operational data to configure workflows and alerts correctly. For analytics and forecasting, 6-12 months of historical data gives better pattern recognition and forecast accuracy. We can start with less data and backfill as you gather more.
What kind of reporting and analytics does the platform provide?
Standard reports include on-time delivery, cost per stop, exception tracking, utilization metrics, and capacity planning. We also build custom scorecards and dashboards tailored to your KPIs. Data is available for integration into your own BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) if you prefer.
Can different teams have different views based on their role?
Absolutely. Role-based access control is built in. A dispatch team sees active routes and exceptions. A warehouse lead sees dock activity and inventory flow. Leadership sees consolidated metrics and trend analysis. Permissions are granular and configurable.
What happens if the system goes down? Do we have uptime guarantees?
We maintain 99.5% uptime SLAs with redundant infrastructure and failover capability. In case of outages, we provide incident notification, status updates, and root-cause analysis. We also maintain offline-capable mobile apps so your drivers and field teams can continue operations if the internet connection is lost.
Do you handle training for our team?
Yes. Training is included in every implementation. We provide role-specific sessions for dispatchers, warehouse staff, drivers, and leadership. We also create user guides, video walkthroughs, and operational playbooks that your team can reference. We can conduct train-the-trainer sessions so your team can train new hires.
Can we customize the software to match our exact workflow?
Yes, but we start by challenging assumptions. Often, standard workflows are actually better than what you're doing now because they embed best practices. That said, configuration and custom development are available. We prioritize mapping your real workflow, then build features around that reality.
What happens after go-live? How long does support last?
Support is ongoing, not just at launch. We provide onboarding support through the first 90 days, then transition to regular support tiers. We conduct quarterly business reviews to assess performance, identify optimization opportunities, and plan for the next phase of capability. Many customers engage us for years of continuous improvement.
Is the mobile app available on iOS and Android?
Yes. We build native apps for both iOS and Android with feature parity. The apps include offline capability, real-time notifications, location tracking (where permitted), and proof-of-delivery capture. App updates are managed through your organization's app distribution process.
How do we handle change management when rolling out new systems?
Change management is part of our implementation process. We conduct stakeholder interviews, identify resistors and champions, create communication plans, and involve team members early in design and testing. We use a phased rollout approach and maintain parallel runs with legacy systems during transition. Your team owns the pace.
What compliance or security certifications does Signal Orchard have?
We follow security best practices including data encryption (in transit and at rest), role-based access control, audit logging, and regular security assessments. We can share our security documentation and compliance approach during a discovery call. Specific certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.) depend on your requirements and are discussed during implementation planning.
